Namur, a UNESCO Creative City

Namur was designated as a UNESCO Creative City in media arts in 2021

We are proud of this membership, which opens up new opportunities for international exchange and cooperation, particularly in the field of media arts, thereby enriching the creative skills and expertise in Namur.

Maxime Prévot, Mayor of the City of Namur

Namur is the first Belgian city to be recognised as a UNESCO Creative City in the field of media arts, one of the seven creative fields covered by the Creative Cities Network, to which only 26 cities in the world belong. This Network includes a total of 350 cities, spread across the fields of craft and folk arts, digital arts, design, film, gastronomy, literature, and music.

This recognition allows cultural and creative businesses to be at the heart of Namur’s development, a territory where the creative and digital economy is a key sector.
